Corporal Thomas Roberts, a 43-year-old officer with the Mishawaka Police Department, tragically lost his life on December 13, 2003, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Roberts, who had served the department for 14 years, was responding to a call about shots being fired. The incident began when the suspect, Raymond Matthew Gilkeson, had a dispute with a neighbor and fired several rounds into the air, prompting residents to call the police.
