The investigation into Bell's death quickly became part of a much larger inquiry into a violent crime spree that
spanned from Evansville to Indianapolis. The suspects were linked to a series of robberies and other homicides. A significant break in the case came when a female accomplice, Vanessa Hankins, was questioned by Evansville detectives. Her vehicle was found near the scene of Bell's murder. Tragically, Hankins was killed in Indianapolis shortly after being interviewed, with authorities believing her murder was an attempt to silence her.
Ultimately, the investigation led to the arrests of Jarvis Brown, Gabriel Jordan, and Teddy Weems. They were indicted by federal prosecutors for their roles in the extensive crime wave that resulted in multiple deaths and injuries.
