On the early morning of December 7, 2014, a violent disturbance erupted outside a nightlife establishment in Indianapolis, Indiana. The incident took place in the 6700 block of East 38th Street, the location of Club Syllowett, a venue that had attracted a crowd that weekend. What began as a dispute between patrons outside the club quickly escalated beyond verbal confrontation. Witnesses at the scene reported that an argument spiraled out of control, leading to an exchange of gunfire that scattered the individuals gathered in the parking lot and surrounding areas.
Amidst the chaos of the shooting, two individuals were struck by bullets. One of the victims was Trey St. John Moore, a 20-year-old Black male who sustained fatal injuries during the volley of gunfire. Emergency responders and law enforcement arrived at the scene to find a chaotic environment with dozens of shell casings littering the ground, evidence of the intensity of the shootout. Despite the efforts to address the violence, Moore succumbed to his wounds, marking another life lost to gun violence in the city that year. The second victim involved in the shooting survived their injuries.
