On February 16, 2014, John E. Brown II, a 44-year-old White male, lost his life during a confrontation with law enforcement at his residence in the 6600 block of Ohio Street in Hammond, Indiana. The incident began late on a Sunday night when the Hammond Police Department received an emergency call reporting a violent domestic disturbance. Dispatchers were alerted that a woman had been stabbed in the mouth, prompting an immediate response from patrol officers to the Southeast Side neighborhood.
