In the afternoon hours of March 10, 2015, a violent incident unfolded in Fort Wayne, Indiana, claiming the life of 21-year-old Black male Marcus Quinn Bibbs. Just before 4:00 p.m., emergency responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the intersection of Webster and Hawthorne streets following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Bibbs lying face down on the ground, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate response, he succumbed to his injuries, and his death was subsequently ruled a homicide by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Witnesses in the vicinity at the time of the shooting reported seeing two individuals fleeing the scene immediately after the gunshots rang out, sparking an investigation into their identities. Police canvassed the neighborhood and sought information from the public, hoping to piece together the events that led to the daylight murder. However, despite the collection of evidence and the pursuit of leads, investigators struggled to identify the perpetrators. As of late 2025, no suspects have been publicly named, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case, leaving the murder unsolved.
Marcus Quinn Bibbs was born on January 18, 1994, in Fort Wayne and was a former student at South Side High School. He was remembered by his community and loved ones as an energetic and observant young man who was a father to a son, Marcus Q. Bibbs Jr. He left behind a large extended family, including his parents, Curtis and Carol McKellar, as well as several siblings and grandparents. His funeral services were held at the New Covenant Worship Center, where family and friends gathered to mourn the untimely loss of a life cut short by gun violence. The case remains open as local authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
