The events of that fateful evening unfolded during a tense argument. Roy Cronin, then 61, answered the door armed with a shotgun as he was aware his son was upset. According to reports, Tony Cronin, who did not live with his father, had contacted him multiple times that day. During the confrontation, Tony allegedly grabbed the barrel of the shotgun, aimed it at his own head, and dared his father to shoot.
