Erbie Thompson, a 45-year-old White male, was tragically killed in his Indianapolis, Indiana home on May 31, 2016. The incident unfolded as an attempted robbery at the east-side residence he shared with his girlfriend. Two individuals, Jeremiah Walker and Jessica Figueiredo, entered the home with the intent to rob Thompson. During the commission of this crime, Thompson was fatally shot.
The subsequent investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department swiftly led them to
Walker and Figueiredo. A crucial piece of evidence came from Thompson's girlfriend, who managed to memorize the license plate number of the suspects' vehicle. Further investigation uncovered a receipt for zip ties inside Figueiredo's vehicle, and security footage confirmed that the pair had purchased the zip ties earlier on the day of the murder. This evidence trail proved instrumental in their apprehension.
In the ensuing legal proceedings, Jessica Figueiredo entered into a plea agreement. She pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery and agreed to testify against her accomplice, Jeremiah Walker. As a result of her plea, she was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Walker faced a trial and was ultimately convicted on multiple charges, including murder, robbery, criminal confinement, and carrying a handgun without a license. He was sentenced to a term of 62 years in prison for his role in the death of Erbie Thompson.
