On a cold December day in Indianapolis, a brutal crime cut short the life of 33-year-old Kevin Dudley. The African American man was discovered on December 23, 2016, bound and fatally wounded inside a pickup truck at the Wildwood Village Apartments on the city's northwest side. Another man, later identified as Dudley's friend, was found nearby with gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder but survived the vicious attack.
The investigation into the violent encounter revealed a chilling plot
orchestrated by a man named Allan H. Walker Jr., who went by the nickname 'Wheelchair Cash.' Walker, who is confined to a wheelchair, planned the robbery and shooting, directing two accomplices to carry out the act. A crucial piece of evidence came from the surviving victim, who, in a desperate act, wrote Walker's moniker in his own blood on a glass door at the scene. This grim message became a key to unraveling the case.
Nearly six months after Dudley's murder, in May 2017, authorities located and arrested Walker more than 100 miles away in Merrillville. He faced a litany of charges, including murder, robbery, and criminal confinement. The legal process culminated in July 2018 when a Marion County jury found Walker guilty for his role in the deadly setup. For his part in the crime that ended Kevin Dudley's life, Allan H. Walker Jr. was sentenced to 76 years in prison.
