In the winter of 2017, the life of 20-year-old Jacob Arnett was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. On the evening of February 2nd, police were called to a scene of violence that would ultimately lead to a lengthy investigation and the eventual conviction of one of the individuals responsible. The male victim, identified as Jacob Arnett, was found shot and was later pronounced dead.
Following the discovery, the investigation quickly led authorities to two teenage suspects.
A SWAT situation unfolded, culminating in the arrest of the two individuals believed to be involved in Arnett's death. While the initial arrests involved two teenagers, the subsequent legal proceedings that became public focused on one of the suspects.
The investigation and ensuing court case revealed that Jacob Arnett was a victim of both murder and robbery. In October 2018, Jalen Thomas was convicted for his role in the crimes committed against Arnett. The following month, in November 2018, Thomas was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder and robbery of Jacob Arnett, bringing a measure of closure to a case that had begun with a young man's untimely death nearly two years prior.
