In the early morning hours of July 6, 2016, the body of 49-year-old Lee Roy Banyon, a male resident of Indianapolis, was discovered in an alley on the city's east side. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the scene at approximately 7:00 a.m. in the area of 30th and Denny Streets.
Homicide detectives began an investigation into Banyon's death. Initial reports indicated that there were no obvious signs of trauma to his body.
Investigators canvassed the area and interviewed potential witnesses in an effort to piece together the events leading to his death. The Marion County Coroner's Office was tasked with performing an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no suspects were publicly identified in connection with Lee Banyon's death. As time passed, the case grew cold, and to date, there have been no arrests made, and no suspects have been named. The circumstances surrounding the death of Lee Banyon remain an unsolved homicide.
