Herbert H. Dillard, a 34-year-old Black / African American male from Indianapolis, Indiana, was killed on August 7, 2014, in a predawn burst of gunfire that left him lying in the street near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Valley Avenue, not far from Keystone and Rural. Police were called to the scene just before 4 a.m., and when they arrived they found Dillard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
