Four-year-old Garrion Glover, Jr., a boy described as having a personality that was 'out of this world,' was found by his mother, bleeding on the floor. The startling noise that awoke her led to the devastating discovery of her son's fatal injury.
The person responsible for the unintentional shooting was the boy's own uncle, Lamario E. Delgado-Gonzalez.
At the time of the incident, Delgado-Gonzalez had been asleep on a couch nearby. He would later tell police that he was in a ' coma' when the gun discharged. The shooting was deemed a tragic accident, a moment of recklessness with catastrophic consequences for the family.
Following the shooting, Lamario E. Delgado-Gonzalez was arrested in Illinois in December of that year. He faced legal proceedings for his role in his nephew's death. In May 2018, Delgado-Gonzalez pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless homicide. During his sentencing, a tearful Delgado-Gonzalez expressed his remorse, telling the court that he loved his nephew unconditionally. The judge sentenced him to four years in prison for the accidental shooting death of young Garrion.
