In a tragic event that unfolded in Seymour, Indiana, 15-year-old Simon Huber, a male sophomore at Seymour High School, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, from a gunshot wound. The incident, which occurred at his home on South Walnut Street, was determined to be a murder-suicide perpetrated by his 68-year-old grandmother, Wanda J. Huber.
The chain of events began on Monday evening when Wanda Huber called 911.
She initially told the dispatcher there had been an accident, but then corrected herself, stating that a murder had occurred before hanging up. When police arrived at the residence, they found Wanda Huber deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Simon was discovered still alive, having also sustained a gunshot wound. He was immediately airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators at the scene recovered a. 357-caliber handgun that belonged to Wanda Huber.
