On December 1, 1982, the body of Clifford Smith, aged 24, was discovered by two animal trappers in a bayou near the White River, north of Seymour, Indiana. Smith had been reported missing by his wife on November 4, 1982. It was determined that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head.
