In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Indianapolis, the quiet of the Rolland Manor Apartments was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On April 16, 2024, a violent altercation unfolded within one of the residences in the 2100 block of North Ritter Avenue, leaving two men dead and another seriously injured. One of the deceased was identified as David Antron Rogers, a 43-year-old male.
Responding to a call shortly before 1 a.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police
Department arrived at the scene to a grim discovery. They located three men who had sustained gunshot wounds. Tragically, Rogers and another man, 38-year-old Michael A. Beck Jr., were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was later reported to be stable. The incident was particularly distressing as two children were present inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, though they were physically unharmed.
The investigation into the double homicide took an unusual turn as detectives began to explore the possibility of a justifiable homicide.
