On a September evening in 2018, the life of 19-year-old Nathan Burnett, who was also known as Nathan Williams, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The male teenager was on the east side of Indianapolis on the night of September 20th when the fatal shooting occurred.
The incident took place just outside the 10th Street Market, located near the intersection of East 10th Street and North Rural Street.
An officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was in the vicinity and heard the gunshots ring out. The officer rushed to the scene at 10th and Oxford, where Burnett was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Eskenazi Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Nathan Burnett succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
In the days that followed, detectives with the IMPD began their investigation into the homicide. In an effort to gather more information, the police released photographs of individuals they described as potential witnesses to the shooting. Authorities appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the people in the photos, hoping to piece together the events that led to the young man's death.
