On February 25, 2019, the life of a 23-year-old Black / African American male named Ahlon Buggs was cut short in a violent incident in East Chicago, Indiana. Buggs, who was a resident of neighboring Gary, had been in the 3900 block of Pulaski Street that evening when he became the target of a shooting. The quiet of the winter night was shattered by gunfire, leaving the young man critically injured on the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.
