In the bitter cold of a January evening in East Chicago, Indiana, the life of 39-year-old Julio Cesar Salinas was brought to a violent and abrupt end. On January 13, 2020, at approximately 9:30 PM, the sound of about 15 gunshots shattered the quiet of the 3800 block of Elm Street. When police and fire departments arrived at the scene, they discovered Salinas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Salinas had been struck in the head, chest, thigh, upper back, and buttocks.
He was quickly transported to St. Catherine Hospital in an attempt to save his life, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing several individuals fleeing the area immediately after the barrage of gunfire, though no descriptions of these individuals have been publicly released.
The investigation into the homicide of Julio Cesar Salinas is ongoing, but as of now, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified. In that incident, Salinas, who was also known by the nickname 'Diablo,' allegedly shot a man in the chest and thigh during a struggle over a handgun inside the bar's bathroom. That case was still pending at the time of his death.
