In a tragic turn of events in Bloomington, Indiana, a young boy's life was cut short in what was described as a devastating accident. Four-year-old Tripp Shaw, a male, passed away in January 2020 following a firearm incident that occurred in his own home. The young boy was reportedly engaged in playful wrestling with his 36-year-old father, Tyler Shaw, when the incident unfolded.
The sequence of events began when a Glock semi-automatic handgun, which the father had tucked into the back
of his pants, became dislodged and fell onto the bed where they were playing. The firearm discharged a single round upon impact. In a harrowing twist of fate, the bullet struck both the father and the son in the head. Emergency services were called to the scene, and both were transported for medical attention. Young Tripp was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis to receive specialized care for his critical injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Tripp Shaw succumbed to his injuries four days after the accidental shooting. His father, who was also wounded by the same bullet, was treated at a hospital and was expected to make a recovery. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
