In the early morning hours of May 31, 2020, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, violence erupted in the 500 block of McKinnie Avenue, leaving one man dead and two others wounded. Roosevelt Allen III, a 36-year-old male, was discovered by Fort Wayne Police Department officers with life-threatening injuries from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
An autopsy later confirmed that Allen's death was a homicide caused by the gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify Paris Patmon, also 36, as a suspect. According to witness statements, an altercation occurred at a party where Patmon was allegedly called a pedophile. It was reported that Patmon left the party and later returned with a firearm, leading to the fatal shooting of Allen and the injury of two other men. One of the other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene, while the third drove himself to a hospital with similar injuries.
Following the investigation, Paris Patmon was charged with murder, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness, and the use of a firearm. However, the legal proceedings that followed did not result in a conviction. In January 2022, an Allen County jury found Patmon not guilty on all charges, including the murder of Roosevelt Allen III.
