In the autumn of 2020, the life of Ricky Lamar Kinds Jr., a 20-year-old male from South Bend, Indiana, was tragically cut short in what was described as a senseless act of violence. On the night of October 22, or in the early moments of October 23, 2020, Kinds and another young man, 21-year-old Malik Balderos, were shot and killed near the Waterford Glen Apartments in South Bend.
