On November 10, 2020, violence struck the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood of Indianapolis, Indiana, claiming the life of a well-known community figure. Harold Lee Jr., a 44-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in the 400 block of West 40th Street, directly in front of his mother's home near the historic Crown Hill Cemetery. The incident occurred in an area where residents had been working to improve safety and reduce criminal activity, a mission in which Lee himself was deeply involved.
