In the early evening of December 8, 2020, the life of 23-year-old Xzavier Edwards-Smith was tragically cut short in a burst of violence on the streets of Gary, Indiana. A resident of South Holland, the young man found himself in a harrowing situation that would ultimately prove fatal. The incident began to unfold in the 2500 block of Grant Street, where gunshots rang out, shattering the evening calm. What started as a shooting soon escalated into a chaotic scene a few blocks away.
