On September 15, 2017, 41-year-old Santos Garcia was shot and killed in Indianapolis. The shooting occurred in the 2600 block of East 23rd Street around 12:35 a.m. Garcia's death was one of many homicides that contributed to Indianapolis's record-high violence in 2017. Investigations revealed little detail about the motive behind the shooting, and the case remains unsolved.
