In the early morning hours of June 10, 2021, the life of 24-year-old Taveyon Damier Colon, a male, was tragically cut short in South Bend, Indiana. Responding to a ShotSpotter alert at approximately 2:15 a.m., South Bend Police discovered Colon in the front yard of a residence on North Brookfield Street, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Remembered by his family and friends as a loving father and a cherished member of his community, Taveyon was
known for bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He is survived by his parents, his children, including a set of twins, and his siblings. In the wake of his death, the community gathered for a prayer vigil to honor his memory and to call for an end to the gun violence that has affected their neighborhood.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit was activated to investigate the shooting. However, despite their efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Taveyon Colon. As of the latest available information, no suspects have been publicly identified, and the case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing closure to his family and the community.
