Richard "Ricky" Castellana, a 55-year-old retired Cook County Sheriff's Deputy, tragically lost his life on June 11, 2021, while working as a security guard at a bank in Gary, Indiana. Castellana was ambushed and fatally shot by two men during an attempted bank robbery. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. outside the First Midwest Bank, where Castellana was on patrol.
