Shawn Kaiser, a 43-year-old man from Zionsville, Indiana, was found dead on August 23, 2021, in Lafayette, Indiana. His body was discovered in a trash truck after workers at Foundation Building Materials noticed what appeared to be blood in a dumpster and called the police. Initially, the Tippecanoe County Coroner's office and investigators treated Kaiser's death as a possible homicide due to the circumstances of finding his body.
