In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 23, 2021, a fatal shooting in Kokomo, Indiana, resulted in the death of 29-year-old Joshua David Briscoe. The incident, which unfolded just after midnight in the 800 block of North Ohio Street, also left a second man critically injured.
Police were dispatched to the residence after receiving a report of a shooting in progress. Upon their arrival, they discovered Joshua Briscoe outside the home, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Inside the house, another man was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment.
According to witness statements provided to the police, the tragic chain of events began when Briscoe shot the other man in the head for reasons that remain unclear. Following this initial shooting, another individual at the residence, identified as 38-year-old Zachary Thomas, allegedly followed Briscoe outside and shot him multiple times. Witnesses suggested that Thomas acted out of anger in response to the first shooting.
Based on their investigation and witness cooperation, police arrested Zachary Thomas in connection with Briscoe's death. He was subsequently charged with murder and taken to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center. Authorities have not released a definitive motive for the initial shooting allegedly committed by Briscoe.
