On a tragic evening in Indianapolis, Indiana, the life of 15-year-old Isaiah Jackson was cut short. On March 7, 2022, he and his 14-year-old friend, Da'Vonta White, were fatally shot at Dubarry Park on the city's east side. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed the identities of the two teenagers who were both students in the MSD of Warren Township.
The incident unfolded around 9:30 p.m. when police responded to a call about a person down in the park.
Arriving officers discovered Isaiah in the parking lot, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. A further search of the area led to the discovery of Da'Vonta's body in the grass nearby. Both teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the shooting may have been connected to a planned gun transaction. According to family members, Da'Vonta had used a social media app to arrange a meeting at the park. Da'Vonta's sister was reportedly in a car nearby and heard the gunshots. Family members of the victims believe they have an idea of who is responsible for the double homicide.
Despite the ongoing investigation and pleas from the victims' families for justice, no arrests have been publicly announced in the case. Law enforcement officials have indicated that they sent the case to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office for review and potential charges. However, as of early 2024, the case officially remains unsolved, leaving a cloud of uncertainty and grief for the families of the two young boys whose lives were tragically taken.
