Caucasian male Tommy Ray Casey Jr., 54, was discovered in critical condition at a residence in Indianapolis, Indiana, during the spring of 2022. On the morning of March 28, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of South Catherwood Avenue, located on the city's east side near Washington Street and South Arlington Avenue.
upon arrival around 9:00 a.m., first responders found Casey suffering from severe injuries described by authorities as consistent with trauma.
Emergency medical personnel transported him to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition while receiving treatment. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, March 29, 2022. The Marion County Coroner’s Office subsequently ruled his death a homicide. Casey, who was known to friends and family by the nickname 'Tucker,' was a diesel mechanic by trade and had moved to Indianapolis from his birthplace in Springfield, Tennessee.
The ensuing investigation by homicide detectives eventually identified a suspect in connection with the fatal incident. Authorities alleged that the attack was coupled with a robbery at the residence. Police arrested 45-year-old Jeremy Jones, a resident of Shelbyville, Indiana. Jones was taken into custody and faced preliminary charges including murder and robbery for his alleged role in Casey's death.
