In the late hours of a Sunday night in Evansville, Indiana, the life of 17-year-old Javion Deshay Presley-McNary, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On June 5, 2022, in the 800 block of Line Street, shots were fired from a vehicle, striking the teenager. He was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after midnight, officially passing away on Monday, June 6, 2022.
Javion, born on May 6, 2005, was known for his kind heart, bright smile,
and protective nature over his family, especially his mother and siblings. A student at the Academy of Innovative Studies, he was remembered as an entrepreneur who was always willing to work hard. He had a passion for basketball and, despite a smaller stature, never shied away from a challenge on the court. His friends recall his love for rapping and joking around.
The Evansville Police Department opened an investigation into the homicide, seeking information from the public to help piece together the events of that fatal night. Authorities believe multiple suspects were involved in the shooting. In the days that followed, family and friends gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor Javion's memory, sharing stories and grieving the sudden loss of a young life full of promise.
