In the afternoon hours of a brisk Tuesday in Indianapolis, tragedy struck at the Abington Apartments on the northwest side of the city. On November 29, 2022, a report of shots fired sent police rushing to the scene near 47th and Georgetown Road. There, they discovered 22-year-old Courtez Dayvon Ward, a male, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel quickly transported Ward to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life.
Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity.
In the wake of the shooting, police began their investigation into the circumstances that led to the young man's death. However, details about a possible motive or any potential suspects have not been released to the public.
