Warren Yokely Harless, a 38-year-old Virginia State Trooper, tragically lost his life on November 18, 1968, in the Big Hill area of Lee County, Virginia. Harless was shot and killed while assisting deputies with an arrest. The incident occurred when a mentally impaired man confronted several hunters at gunpoint and stole their rifles after they came onto his property.
