In the winter of 2021, the community of Front Royal, Virginia, mourned the unexpected passing of James “Mick” Jackson, Jr. At the age of 57, the U.S. Army veteran and local business owner died on Monday, January 11, at Warren Memorial Hospital. His death was a sudden loss to his extensive and close-knit family, many of whom resided in and around the Winchester area.
Born in Fauquier County on February 18, 1963, Mick was the son of James Oliver Jackson, Sr. and the late Marvel “Stone” Roberts Jackson. After serving his country in the military, he became a business owner, operating Jackson Logistics. He was a family man, having been married to his wife, Sharon Lockhart Jackson, for 35 years. Together they raised two sons, Zach Jackson of Front Royal and Nate Jackson of Toms Brook.
His life was deeply rooted in his family connections. He is survived by his father, his wife, and his sons. He also left behind three brothers: Larry Jackson of Winchester, Mike Jackson of Manassas, and Danny Jackson of Gainesville, Florida. His three sisters, Shirl Jackson of Washington, Virginia, Tracy Jackson of Woodstock, and Stacy Tann of Stephens City, also mourned his loss. He was a beloved grandfather to Novah Jackson and three special 'grandsons,' Marques, James, and Tyson. His passing was felt by numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Amanda Seal McClanahan. The family gathered to receive friends and hold a Home Going service at Maddox Funeral Home in the days following his death, with a private inurnment planned.
