Jarrett Lee Lane, a 22-year-old senior majoring in civil engineering at Virginia Tech, tragically lost his life on April 16, 2007, during the Virginia Tech massacre. Lane was in a graduate hydrology class taught by Professor G.V. Loganathan when the shooter, Seung-Hui Cho, opened fire, killing Lane and several others. Lane was a highly accomplished student, having been the valedictorian of his 2003 class at Narrows High School and an active participant in various sports and community activities.
