In April of 2015, a quiet Saturday afternoon in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake, Virginia, was disrupted by a grim discovery. Just before 3 p.m., a concerned individual noticed a man inside a silver Mercedes parked at the Lake Village Apartments off Gilmerton Road and alerted the authorities. When police arrived, they found the body of 28-year-old Jamal Sampson, a resident of Hampton. He had been shot to death.
Jamal D. Sampson was a married man and a father to a beloved daughter.
He is also survived by his mother and father. His death left a void in the lives of his family, including his wife, daughter, parents, and grandmother. A homegoing celebration was held for him on May 2, 2015, at Grafton Baptist Church in Yorktown.
The investigation into Sampson's death has unfortunately grown cold over the years. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with his murder. The Chesapeake Police Department now lists his case among its cold case homicides. Law enforcement continues to seek information from the public that could lead to a breakthrough and bring his killer to justice.
