On a tragic day in Hampton, Virginia, a promising life was cut short. Shaolin Chandam, a 25-year-old male of Indian descent, was killed on August 25, 2015. Originally from Manipur, India, Chandam had moved to the United States for higher education in 2010 and was working for a financial consulting firm after completing his studies.
The incident unfolded outside his residence in the LaSalle Gardens area of Hampton, where he was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Chandam was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into his death revealed that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that tragically escalated.
Hampton Police quickly identified a suspect in the case, Keenan Palmer, a 25-year-old man who was reportedly Chandam's roommate. Following the shooting, Palmer fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement. He was apprehended a few days later in Suffolk, Virginia.
Keenan Palmer was subsequently arrested and faced serious charges in connection with Shaolin Chandam's death. The charges filed against him included one count of murder and one count of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
