On a Sunday evening in Portsmouth, Virginia, the life of 29-year-old Marquis Benton was tragically cut short. On September 20, 2015, emergency dispatchers received a call from Maryview Medical Center at approximately 5:47 p.m. reporting that two men had arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds. One of those men was Marquis Benton, who was suffering from serious injuries.
Due to the severity of his wounds, Benton was transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for further treatment.
