On the evening of May 20, 2016, a child custody exchange at a Stafford, Virginia, gas station turned fatal, ending the life of 20-year-old Austen Tyler Agnor of Chester, Maryland. The young man, a husband, father, and U.S. Army serviceman, had driven with his wife to the Exxon on Courthouse Road to drop off his wife's two-year-old daughter for a weekend visit with her biological father.
