finality. A neighbor, alerted by the sound of arguing and then a gunshot, witnessed Beadles standing over a kneeling Cash with a revolver. After the shooting, Beadles reportedly told a neighbor he had 'messed up' and retreated into the nearby woods. He was later apprehended by law enforcement officers who found him in the wooded area. Initially, Beadles was charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
In the ensuing legal proceedings, Alton Glenn Beadles, 58 at the time of sentencing, entered into a plea agreement. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder.
