In the early morning hours of Sunday, October 8, 2017, the sound of gunfire cut through the night in Richmond, Virginia's Shockoe Bottom neighborhood. When Richmond Police officers arrived at the 1700 block of East Main Street around 1:16 a.m., they discovered a grim scene. Two men were found with life-threatening gunshot wounds. One of the men, Oscar W. Lewis II, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other, 29-year-old Deonte M. Bullock, was rushed to a local hospital.
