On the evening of August 22, 2018, in Mechanicsville, Virginia, a welfare check at a home on River Valley Road took a tragic turn. Hanover County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the residence at approximately 11:28 p.m. to check on an adult female who had reportedly made threats to harm herself.
Upon their arrival, officers observed a woman sitting on the front porch. As they approached the house, she ran inside.
Shortly thereafter, multiple gunshots were heard coming from the second floor of the home.
After entering the residence, law enforcement officials discovered two deceased individuals who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. The male victim was identified as 45-year-old Eric Digiacomo of Mechanicsville. The female was identified as Robin Styles, also 45 and a resident of Mechanicsville.
Investigators began evaluating the evidence at the scene. According to a statement from the Hanover County Sheriff's Office, no suspects were being sought in connection with the deaths, and the investigation was ongoing.
