In the early evening of October 15, 2018, the sense of peace in a Richmond, Virginia apartment complex was abruptly broken. Residents of the Ashton Square Apartments in the Westover Hills neighborhood made multiple calls to police reporting a man down in the parking lot. When officers arrived at the 600 block of Westover Hills Boulevard around 5:40 p.m., they discovered a young man lying in the pavement, suffering from a gunshot wound.
