On the evening of December 7, 2018, in Petersburg, Virginia, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm on Navajo Court. When the incident subsided, 31-year-old Rakeem Davis, a Black male resident of the city, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services were quick to respond, and Davis was rushed to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
