Joslyn M. Alsup, a 17-year-old from Cobb County, Georgia, tragically lost her life on March 9, 2019, in Mendota, Virginia. Her death was part of a series of murders committed by James Michael Wright, a 23-year-old carnival worker who was later identified as a serial killer. Wright met Joslyn through her father, who was his coworker at the James H. Drew Carnival. Wright lured Joslyn to his property in Mendota, where he fatally shot her. Her remains were discovered under logs on Wright's property.
