On the evening of March 29, 2019, in Newport News, Virginia, a heated argument between two acquaintances escalated into a fatal encounter. Randall Edward Dotson, a 61-year-old white male, was shot multiple times outside a room at a Motel 6 on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:23 p.m. and found Dotson on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds.
