On a summer day in Woodbridge, Virginia, the bodies of two men were discovered in a wooded area behind a market on Featherstone Road. The date was June 22, 2019, and the discovery launched a homicide investigation into the deaths of 40-year-old Milton Beltran Lopez and 39-year-old Jairo Geremeas Mayorga, both residents of Woodbridge. The men were known to frequent businesses in the area where their bodies were found by a local resident. An autopsy would later confirm that both men died from gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the double homicide continued for months. Assistance from the FBI was enlisted, and a significant reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. Detectives pursued leads and, in November of that year, identified a suspect. The investigation revealed that the accused had arranged to meet with Milton Beltran Lopez in the wooded area where the bodies were later found. Jairo Geremeas Mayorga was accompanying Lopez at the time of the meeting. An altercation occurred during this encounter, which resulted in the fatal shooting of both Lopez and Mayorga.
On November 22, 2019, authorities arrested Abner Jose Molina-Rodriguez, a 22-year-old resident of Catlett, Virginia. He was taken into custody in Fauquier County in connection with a separate investigation, and information gathered subsequently linked him to the Woodbridge murders. Molina-Rodriguez was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was held without bond pending a court date.
