In the early morning hours of February 22, 2020, the quiet of a Herndon, Virginia neighborhood was shattered by a domestic disturbance that ended in tragedy. Inside a home on the 12800 block of Lady Fairfax Circle, 53-year-old Blanca Turcios, a Hispanic female, was fatally shot. Fairfax County Police responded to a call about the disturbance shortly after 3 a.m. and discovered Blanca Turcios suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body.
Despite the efforts of rescue personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect close to home. Authorities identified Blanca's 28-year-old son, Eric Turcios, as the person responsible for the fatal shooting. In a swift turn of events, Eric Turcios surrendered to the Prince William County Police a short time after the incident. At the time of his surrender, a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered.
Following his surrender, Eric Turcios was taken to the Adult Detention Center. He was charged with murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was held without bond. The death of Blanca Turcios marked the first homicide in Fairfax County for the year 2020. Detectives continued to investigate the circumstances that led to the tragic shooting. An autopsy was scheduled to be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
