In a tragic turn of events on the evening of April 11, 2020, a triple shooting in Norfolk, Virginia, claimed the life of 19-year-old Alonzo Roane of Virginia Beach. The male victim was found deceased by police when they responded to a call about a gunshot victim in the 800 block of E. Princess Anne Road at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered two other men who had also sustained gunshot wounds.
One of the injured men was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the third received treatment for minor injuries at the scene. In the course of their investigation, authorities identified one of the injured individuals, 21-year-old Solomon J. Miller of Norfolk, as the suspect in the fatal shooting.
Following the incident, Solomon J. Miller was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Alonzo Roane's death. He also faced charges of malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm. At the time the charges were announced, Miller was still receiving treatment for the injuries he sustained during the shooting.
Alonzo Roane, affectionately known as 'Zo,' was born on July 18, 2000. He was a graduate of Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, where he was a member of the football team, and had gone on to attend Glenville State College in West Virginia on a scholarship. His obituary remembers him as a beloved son and brother, leaving behind a loving family to cherish his memory.
