In the early morning hours of November 1, 2020, a house party in Woodbridge, Virginia, turned into a scene of deadly violence that claimed the life of 24-year-old Christopher Alan Johnson. Johnson, an African American man from Alexandria, was one of two men who were fatally shot during the gathering at a residence on Bristol Court. The other deceased victim was identified as 25-year-old Frank Chineji Sapele of Arlington. Two other individuals, a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were also wounded in the shooting but were expected to survive their injuries.
The tragic events unfolded at approximately 2:03 a.m. when an altercation escalated at the large party. During the dispute, a man brandished a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the crowd, striking the four victims. Neighbors later reported hearing five to six gunshots before witnessing people fleeing the scene. When police arrived, they discovered a chaotic scene and pronounced Johnson and Sapele dead at the location. The female victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the fourth victim, a male, later arrived at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
An investigation led by the Prince William County Police Department's Homicide Unit swiftly identified a suspect. Four days after the shooting, on November 5, 2020, Karriem Angelo Jackson, 26, of Reston, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Jackson was subsequently charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, and four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. In August 2025, a jury found Karriem Jackson guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, and multiple firearm charges. He was scheduled to be sentenced on December 5, 2025.
